About Roland
Roland Rivera is a knowledgeable, savvy, and aggressive criminal defense attorney who prides himself in being able to relate to his clients. Being a first-generation college student born and raised in West Texas, Roland personally knows the challenges and difficulties many of his clients are facing when dealing with a legal issue. It is not uncommon for clients to tell Roland that he is a “Lawyer for the People,” which is one of the best compliments Roland could receive.
Roland has substantial knowledge and experience in DWIs, drug cases, and other criminal matters. He has represented clients in over hundreds of contested hearings and trials throughout the state. Roland frequently attends advanced level trainings and seminars across Texas to further his knowledge and skills to better serve his clients. His extensive knowledge of the law and police procedure, combined with his willingness to fight for his clients, have often resulted in favorable results for his clients.
Roland graduated with honors from The University of Texas School of Law in Austin, one of the most prestigious law schools in the country. In addition to graduating at the top of his law school class, Roland received the Jurisprudence Award for Advocacy and had an article published in a legal journal. As a law student, Roland clerked for several notable criminal defense attorneys in Austin, San Antonio, and Lubbock. During his clerkships, Roland worked with all types of criminal cases, ranging from class C tickets to fighting for clients on death row. Roland also practiced law as a student attorney in Texas Law’s esteemed criminal defense clinic. Roland also graduated magna cum laude from Texas Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science.
Many of Roland’s clients are completely unfamiliar with the court system, so he makes sure that his clients understand the process. Roland knows that everyone makes mistakes—and that does not make someone a bad person; that makes them human. One of Roland’s favorite quotes, which applies to his practice’s philosophy, is: We are all better than the worst decision we have ever made.
